Beka Nemsitsveridze Elected Chairman of the Criminal Law Committee of the Georgian Bar Association

Beka Nemsitsveridze, Founder and Managing Partner of Nemsitsveridze Law Firm, has been elected Chairman of the Criminal Law Committee of the Georgian Bar Association by decision of its Executive Council.

The Criminal Law Committee is one of the specialised committees of the Georgian Bar Association. Its activities focus on current issues in criminal law and criminal procedure, identifying challenges faced by defence lawyers in their professional practice, and developing legislative and practical initiatives aimed at improving the criminal justice system.

Under Beka Nemsitsveridze’s chairmanship, particular attention will be given to strengthening the rights and procedural safeguards of the defence, addressing issues affecting the professional activities of criminal defence lawyers, analysing challenges arising in judicial and investigative practice, and developing proposals for improvements to criminal and criminal procedural legislation.

Beka Nemsitsveridze has extensive experience in criminal defence and has represented clients in complex and high-profile criminal proceedings. Alongside his legal practice, he has been actively involved in discussions concerning practical and legislative developments in criminal law and criminal procedure.

One of the Committee’s key priorities will be to identify systemic and practical challenges based on the professional experience of practising lawyers and to develop initiatives aimed at ensuring the effective protection of defence rights, equality of arms, and fundamental fair-trial guarantees within Georgia’s criminal justice system.
